Ride Report
Howdy SRCs, Well, well as Scott and I sat there having breakfast, at 8:15am and no one has showed up yet, we thought we'd be riding by ourselves to Foresthill. But to our surprise we ended up with 8 bikes and 12 riders braving the cold and enjoying the dry weather... As lead, I took off from the parking lot to make a left turn onto Blue Ravine road, but much to my dismay the rest of the group was held up in the parking lot. So there I sat on Blue Ravine road looking back on the rest of the group this time stuck at the light, hoping that this was not a sign of the ride to come. (Ok skipping to the end, this was the only miss step on the entire ride) We headed out Green Valley road to Salmon Falls road to hwy49 to Marshall Grade and our first stop in George Town. The sun was shining and the air was brisk making for an ideal day to ride. Yes it was cool out and some might say cold, but if you ride, you should not complain, as you can always get into your CAGE... As we stood around enjoying the sunshine the conversations were all about our bikes, past and future rides. From there we headed down hwy193 to Cool and back onto hwy49, then down to the confluences of the America rivers, next over to the "Old Forest Hill road and onto Forest Hill. I was surprised to find that the roads were clear of sand, ice and snow. Once inside the Ore Cart we all commented on how many bicycles and other motorcycle riders there were on the roads today. The cool temperatures did not seem to matter and were not mentioned much. As for the meal, I can say hands down the "Mother Load" hamburger (all 3/4 lbs of it) was by far the number one choice with seven of the twelve ordering it, and it can safely be said that most took a "doggie bag" home with them... My son Scott's soul purpose for coming on this ride was to finish off the Mother Load burger and fries, which he did in quick order. The ride home was no less enjoyable as we rode across the Forest Hill bridge and into Auburn. From there it was an easy ride down Folsom-Auburn road and home. As I look at the weather reports for Monday and the upcoming week, it is very clear that this past weekend was meant for riders to help with their PMS (parked Motorcycle syndrome) as we could not have asked for better riding weather. What else is to be said, but another SRC ride in is the books. John PS By the way, for those who are interested, until we reached Auburn on the way home the temperature never got higher then 46 degrees. |
