Howdy SRCs,

I think Jack W said it best while having breakfast Sunday morning,
 "another successful ride..."

We had 10 bikes ride over to Carson city for the first of three
overnight rides this year.  The weather could not have been more
 perfect.

The ride up to Carson City and over Carson Pass was wonderful.  The
combination of flowers blossoming and snow, made for many surreal views
as we rode.  The pictures of what look like a snow covered meadow is
actually Cables & Silver lakes.  Both were still covered with ice and
snow.  Even with all the snow, the roads were dry with little sand or
debris.  This just made the ride more enjoyable.

Our pace was slow enough so that we could enjoy the scenery, but steady
enough for us to arrived in Carson City right around 1:30pm.  Much to
our surprise our rooms were ready.

At that point, some headed to the casinos and others to their rooms...
After about an hour or so a few rode over to Virginia City to walk, shop
and just look around.  After that all were on there own to make it back
to Carson City and our next reservation, Dinner at 7pm.

It did not take long to find the $1 margaritas and the party was on.

Dinner was fine as always, the with Steak & Lobster being the most
popular choice for dinner.  During dinner we made a toast to Good Roads,
Great Routes and Wonderful Friends, I think I sense a "mission
 statement" for the club here.

Much to our disappointment the Pinion Plaza removed the dance floor in
favor of more gaming tables, but we were not to be totally without late
night fun as they provided us with a shuttle bus to their sister motel
"The Station" down ton Carson City, not 10 minutes ride from our hotel.

So a few of us loaded up onto the shuttle and rode off to dance and
listen to live music.  As the night progressed the bar filled and became
a bit crowded.  Gundi hit the guy sitting behind her several times with
her hand and hair, over the course of the evening.

About that time the lead singer for the band came down into the bar area
and started to sing to some of the ladies.  After a couple of songs he
started to harass this guy sitting behind Gundi, the one that she had
hit a couple of times by accident.  The entertainer, then said "there
are even some old farts in here that think that they can sing" as he
handed the microphone over to this guy.  His victim (guy sitting there)
then sang the old song "Chain Gang" and boy did he have a great voice.
After the song was done the lead singer took the microphone back and
said "I'd like you all to meet a friend that I've known for 20 years, he
is the lead singer for the band "The Drifters".

They both then gave us a 1 1/2 hour "concert" of oldies but goodies...

They even "changed up" the tempo of a couple of songs so that Gundi and
I could dance the Cha - Cha...

 Wow what a night!

The next day, a small group headed for home, leaving about 10am, with
the rest spending one more night.
The ride home was no less beautiful then the ride over.  The roads were
clear and surprisingly, there was little traffic.

As stated in the beginning of this ride report,,,

Another great ride for the SRCs is in the books!

 John
